Where is former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries now?

Mike Jeffries was the Abercrombie & Fitch CEO until 2014 when he was ousted amid tons of controversy generated by the brand. Netflix’s new documentary White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch documents how Jeffries helped raise the brand to its popular status in the early 2000s to the role he played in the brand’s numerous controversies.

During his tenure at Abercrombie, Jeffries nurtured a culture of discriminatory hiring practices and a general sense of exclusion. He was also the one behind the now-infamous Salon interview where he said Abercrombie’s clothes were meant to be worn by “cool” people and not unattractive or overweight buyers.

White Hot gets into a lot more of the unsavory practices and polarizing decisions made by Jeffries during his time as CEO, but if you’re curious about what the businessman is up to now, keep reading to find out.

As far as we know, Jeffries is still very much alive. He is 77 years old, born on July 15, 1944.

Jeffries was previously married to Susan Hansen, daughter of Charles Henry Hansen, president and founder of Charles Hansen Music Publishing. They have one child together. He and Hansen are now separated.

As of 2013, Jeffries was living with his longtime life partner Matthew Smith, it’s not clear if the two are still together.

After being ousted from Abercrombie & Fitch, Jeffries more or less disappeared from the public eye. It’s not clear where he is nowadays. In 2017, Jeffries listed his lavish townhome for sale with an asking price of $16 million.

Before becoming the CEO, she joined the company in 2014 as the President of the Hollister brand, serving for 13 months before receiving the promotion to president and Chief Merchandising Officer of Abercrombie & Fitch, a new corporate role at the time, in 2015.

She stayed on in that role for another 13 months before becoming the CEO and a member of the board of directors. As of 2020, Horowitz was reportedly earning $11.9 million annually.
