Day Shift starring Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg and Dave Franco is now streaming on Netflix. The hilarious and action-packed popcorn flick is super entertaining and the perfect summer movie, but is it okay to watch for family movie night?
The film contains a lot of graphic violence and it is rated R, so you might want to save this film for after the kids go to bed. But below we’ll get into the actual parents guide and age rating so you know what to expect from the film (spoiler-free). Then you can make an informed decision on whether it’s suitable for you and your kids.
Day Shift is rated R, meaning it may not be suitable for ages 17 and under. It’s an adult movie rated R for strong violence, gore and language. Given the cast features people like Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg and Dave Franco, you can guess that it’s going to have a lot of swearing and some crass language.
The R rating mostly comes from the intensity of violence and gore in the movie. Since it is about hunting vampires, you can expect a lot of intense action sequences and fight scenes. Many are highly stylized and as such there is a lot of blood and guts with characters getting their heads cut off, shot, blown up and much more.
There really isn’t any sexual content in the movie, but if you’re wary of showing your kids something that might scare them this movie is probably not suitable for younger audiences. Day Shift is definitely more of an action-comedy, but some of the scarier moments involving vampires and the violence will likely upset young children and some teens. Parents are strongly cautioned.
