The wait is finally over. All eight episodes of Resident Evil are now streaming on Netflix and people are quickly making their way through the action-packed season. However, some people are hesitant to start their binge sessions because they need to know if they can watch the show while their kids are around. Of course, we’ve got you covered! We shared the parents guide and age rating right below.
Resident Evil is a television adaptation of the popular video game series of the same name by Capcom. It’s an action-horror series developed by Andrew Dabb for Netflix. It stars a talented ensemble cast of actors such as Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Adeline Rudolph, Siena Agudong, Paola Núñez, and many others.
The story alternates between two separate timelines: 2022 and 2036. In the year 2022, a young Jade and Billie Wesker are living boring lives when they move to New Raccoon City after their father, Dr. Albert Wesker, gets a new position at the Umbrella Corporation. But once they sneak into Umbrella’s labs to expose their animal testing, they discover their father’s and Umbrella Corporation’s dark secrets. In 2036, an older Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by zombie-like creatures known as zeros while being haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, her father, and what happened to her sister, Billie.
So is Resident Evil appropriate for kids? We answered this question below.
The live-action series was given an age rating of TV-MA, meaning it may not be suitable for ages 17 and under. It was given this rating due to the frightening scenes throughout, extremely graphic violence, gore, profanity, and smoking. Overall, Resident Evil is meant to be watched by mature audiences only. So we recommend watching the show when the kids are tucked in and ready for bed or when they’re completely occupied with a kids’ movie or show.
Take a look at the thrilling official trailer to see the cast in action!
In the trailer, you can see a lot of violence, blood, terrifying creatures, various weapons used, and one of the main characters even lets out a curse word. All of what’s shown in the trailer would be considered inappropriate for a younger audience to watch. So once again, we suggest watching the action-horror series when you have time to yourself.
