After more than a year of waiting, The Witcher season 3 has finally arrived on Netflix. Henry Cavill is back as the beloved monster-hunting witcher, Geralt of Rivia, and he’s joined by fellow castmates Joey Batey as Jaskier, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Freya Allen as Princess Cirilla of Cintra.
Following the trend they started in recent years with shows like Stranger Things, Netflix is splitting its big fantasy series into two parts for its third outing. The upcoming crime drama, The Lincoln Lawyer season 2, will also be divided into two volumes.
The first part of The Witcher season 3 is coming this Thursday, followed by part 2 in late July. Here’s what you need to know about the first half of the season.
The first part of The Witcher season 3 will consist of five episodes. Interestingly, Netflix chose not to do an even split this season.
Since there are eight episodes total, the streamer could have split it in half to do two volumes of four, but they’ve opted to wrap part 1 with episode 5 instead. That’s nice for fans because they get more episodes in the first half before the final three are released this July.
Here are the episode titles and runtimes for the first five episodes of The Witcher season 3:
Since there are five episodes in the first, there must be three episodes in TheWitcher season 3 part 2. However, unlike part 1, Netflix hasn’t yet released the titles for the volume 2 episodes, so we cannot share what those are at this time.
It’s also unclear how long these episodes will be, though we suspect they will be similar lengths as the first half, varying from 50 minutes to just over an hour. The finale might be a bit longer, as is often the case, but don’t expect it to be as long as the Stranger Things season 4 finale.
The Witcher season 3 part 1 premieres on Thursday, June 29, to be followed by part 2 on July 27. Stay tuned to Netflix Life for all the updates, news, and details you need on the popular fantasy series!
