Painkiller is a new limited series on Netflix presenting a fictionalized retelling of Purdue Pharma’s creation of OxyContin. The show centers on the Sackler Family legacy. It follows a legal investigator, played by Uzo Aduba, who intends to bring them down and expose the dangers of their blockbuster drug OxyContin once and for all.
The series is based on Patrick Radden Keefe’s New Yorker article and the book Pain Killer: An Empire of Deceit and the Origin of America’s Opioid Epidemic by Barry Meier. Apart from Aduba, Painkiller stars Matthew Broderick, Taylor Kitsch, West Duchovny, Clark Gregg, and more.
